Isfahan Kidney Diseases Research Center (I.K.R.C.)
Kidney diseases are highly prevalent in the world and in our country and in addition to compromising the health of the individual, impose a huge cost on the whole health system. With regard to the worldwide increasing prevalence of the End-Stage Renal Disorder (ESRD), and the inevitable role of research in presenting efficient clues to prevention, management, and treatment of this disorder and its complications, Isfahan Kidney Diseases Research Center (I.K.R.C.) is dedicated to evaluation of kidney-related disorders and their early detection, prevention and management, which has a significant role in improving the overall community health and reducing related cost burden.
In view of this, the establishment of Isfahan Kidney Disease Research Center for was approved by the Council for Development of Research Centers of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education in 2008, and after the necessary coordination, its activities were officially launched from the second half of 2009.
Isfahan Kidney Diseases Research Center is a known research center in the field of kidney disorders and renal transplant in Iran and is affiliated to School of Medicine, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences & Health Services. At this center, research, education, and clinical care services come together to improve the quality of life for the society as a whole, and for patients following renal transplant or with other renal disorders in particular.
This research center has been established in accordance with the privileged position of the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in order to reduce the health problems and prevent kidney diseases through the provision of educational and research services in this field.

We will investigate the current debates about nephrology and kidney diseases in our area. We work passionately to focus our organization’s activities solely upon improving kidney health. Our mission is to help people fight kidney disease and live healthier lives. We achieve our mission by delivering programs that educate, build awareness, and drive advocacy, resulting in greater public understanding and ultimately the prevention of kidney disease.
- Designing and carrying out basic, epidemiological and clinical research including and clinical trials with the goal of prevention and treatment of renal disorders by evaluating the causes, treatment, and eradication of all forms of kidney disease
- Bridging the gaps of available care through advocacy and collaborations with other partner organizations
- Building capacity in healthcare professionals via granting programs, education and research
- Expansion and use of human knowledge in the field of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of kidney disorders
- Improvement of the basis of the national health and treatment services, to meet the needs of the society, through carrying out basic, epidemiological and clinical research, especially clinical trials and cohort studies
- Collection and organization of the related data, documents, articles and certificates in the field of nephrology to improve and facilitate the community health-related research projects
Collaboration with other organizations and research centers at national, regional and international levels for prevention and treatment of renal disorders, specially ESRD, through performing applied medical research
